The first thing I did was make sure my son was sleepy. Bath time is great for this. Then establishing a routine helps them realise its bedtime and not get so upset. So I did bath, diaper change, playtime while I read a story. Put on jammies, rocking in the chair while I sing or say little nursery rhymes. Then in the crib while I patted his bottom for a bit. Once I left, if he cried I would wait 10 mins. If he was still crying i’d go pat him some more and tell him I loved him and good night. If he cried again I’d wait another 10 before I went in to pat him and tell him goodnight. If he cried after 2 checkins I extended it to 15 minutes before I went in to pat him. If he wasnt asleep after an hour, I’d check his diaper, make sure he wasnt hungry and then rock again. Put him back in the crib... Eventually they get used to sleeping in their crib

Stand up for your convictions. When she says something you dont agree with, politely disagree. Tell her it makes you uncomfortable when she speaks badly about people you know. She will either change or she wont want to be around you anymore. I wouldnt recommend telling others what she says about them. That would only put you right in the middle of her drama.
